Laura’s Art Shoppe Limerick Contest Rules

Submission deadline: Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 4:00 pm

Winners will be announced on Friday, May 31, 2019

This is the triumphant (and belated) return of the fourth annual Limerick Contest that Laura’s Art Shoppe has hosted. With a little imagination and lots of inspiration you too can be a competitor in this fun event!

Here’s all you have to do:

  1. Write a Limerick. What is a limerick, you ask? Well, it’s basically a poem that has a very specific rhyme pattern, like this:

    There once was a girl with a filling;
    The acute pain from which, it was killing!
    To the dentist she went
    And much anger she vent
    And left without paying a shilling.

  2. Theme: For the 2019 Contest, your limerick should be a meditation on the theme of your choice. All we ask is that you keep 'em clean.

  3. Entry Fee: On the honour system, make a donation to the food bank in your area. Or you can bring your food bank donation to Laura’s Art Shoppe when you drop off your entry.

  4. Deadline: Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 4:00 pm

  5. There will be First, Second and Third prizes awarded during the Spring Pulse Poetry Festival. Winners will be notified for the presentation of prizes.

    …or they can be dropped off at the store at 38 Silver Street in downtown Cobalt.
